What I Have

What I have may not be all I want
but then again ~ it is
It's all I can hold on to and pull my hand out of the cookie jar
the ability to fly
sky-scrapingly high
with only two left shoes
It's the plaid elephant with peach paisley ears that sits on my futon
In the middle of the room
legs crossed
smoking a hookah. . . .
While I act like it's not there it just smiles
and waits for supper
or for me to get a clue
(It seems either one will be greatly appreciated & patiently waited for)
& I'm grateful. I laugh cause the things that I have
are much more than the things I deserve
& I smile because things I deserve
get confused with the things that I have
I guess I changed my actions in enough time to
answer the door for the Publisher's Clearing House gift of my life.
Life is good. So good in fact
That the elephant & I will just kick it
Have tea, eat some cookies, listen to jazz . . .
& discuss the coolness of flyin' so high
with only two left shoes
